Fed: Latham vows to pressure govt on sugar/banana concerns

Opposition Leader MARK LATHAM says Labor will push the federal government to ensure
a comprehensive restructuring package for the sugar industry.

Speaking in Cairns after meeting sugar and banana industry representatives, Mr LATHAM
said the sugar industry had been dudded in what he called the partial trade deal with
the US.

Mr LATHAM says the sugar industry deserves a bright future but will be worse off under the deal.
