Vic: Rescue party set out to find hiker suffering hypothermia
A rescue party has set out to find a hiker who is suffering hypothermia in Victoria's
high country in the state's north-east.
The police search-and-rescue squad last night embarked on what was expected to be a
six-hour journey to rescue the man, who is with two others on Mt Bogong.
Police say the men, aged 32, 29 and 25, set out on a cross-country, snow-shoe hike
yesterday morning.
Rural Ambulance spokesman JOHN MULLEN says one man used a mobile phone to ring emergency
services about 6.30pm (AEST) to report the case of hypothermia.
Mr MULLEN says the men are well-equipped and are digging in for the night and an ambulance
crew will be sent in once they have been found.
