NSW: Oppn calls for mayor pay claim to be rejected

The New South Wales Opposition says a bid to beef up Sydney Lord Mayor FRANK SARTOR's
salary by $50,000 should be rejected.

Mr SARTOR wants a payrise to compensate him for lost income when the SOCOG board winds
up next year.

Sydney City Council approved the $50,000 pay rise last night, taking Mr SARTOR's salary
to $133,500 - a figure that will now be referred to the Local Government Remuneration
Tribunal for final approval.

On top of his present $83,500 from the council, the Lord Mayor also receives $25,000
a year from a Sydney …
