Qld: Cyclists allowed on Pacific Motorway
The Queensland government says it will reconsider its plan to allow cyclists on thePacific Motorway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast if there's enough opposition.
Queensland Transport has decided to lift the ban on cyclists from the new new eight-lanehighway which has a speed limit of 110 kilometres per hour.
State Transport Department Minister STEVE BREDHAUER says one of the state's busiestroads is also one of the safest for cyclists -- despite the high speed allowed.
But he's prepared to take another look at the decision, which comes only days aftera crisis summit on the Gold Coast to discuss recent cycling accidents -- including thedeath of triathlete LUKE HARROP.
